St. Mary’s Parish Ad Hoc Cemetery Committee

St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Papakura, owns parcels of land at Ramarama and Ararimu. The Ramarama property is a designated cemetery, where some individuals are already buried. However, the site remains underdeveloped. The smaller parcel at Ararimu lies adjacent to the existing Ararimu Cemetery, which was formerly owned by the parish and gifted to Auckland Council. There is a growing need to make prudent and pastoral use of these properties, either as Catholic cemetery(ies), income-generating land, or other beneficial purposes for the parish. The Ad Hoc Cemetery Committee is to conduct a thorough study of these properties and recommend ways to develop/sell the land(s) in alignment with civil law, Church norms, and the pastoral needs of the parish and diocese.

The parish is looking for volunteers who will form an Ad hoc  Cemetery Committee with the representatives of Parish Finance Committee and Parish Pastoral Council, and the Parish Priest.

  1. A legal advisor with expertise in property and burial law
  2. A civil engineer, architect, or land development specialist
  3. Parishioners with experience in real estate, cemetery management, or project planning

Kindly contact the parish office for information and if you are able to join the Committee.
