Interested in Becoming Catholic?
Come and See!
RCIA & RCIC at St. Mary’s Parish, 46 East Street, Papakura
Are you:
Unbaptized and seeking to learn more about Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church?
- Baptized in another Christian tradition and drawn to full communion with the Catholic Church?
- A baptized Catholic who never received First Holy Communion or Confirmation?
- A child (aged 7+) or teen interested in becoming Catholic or completing your sacraments?
You are warmly invited to join the RCIA or RCIC journey of faith!
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the official process of the Catholic Church for welcoming new members into the Church. It is more than a program—it is a process, spiritual journey of conversion and discovery, rooted in Scripture, Tradition, prayer, and community.
This process includes:
- Inquiry: Ask questions, explore your interest, and learn what the Catholic Church teaches.
- Catechumenate: Grow in understanding and faith through weekly sessions and community worship.
- Purification and Enlightenment: A period of deep reflection and preparation, especially during Lent.
- Sacraments of Initiation: Receive Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist, typically at the Easter Vigil.
- Mystagogy: Reflect on your new life as a Catholic and grow in discipleship.
For children aged 7 and older, RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) follows a similar path adapted to their age and understanding, involving both parents and catechists in a supportive environment.
Who Can Join?
Everyone who is open to discovering Christ and responding to His invitation is welcome—whether you’re just curious, returning to Church, or ready to begin the journey toward full sacramental life.
